Dr. Christie Regula

Meet Dr. Christie Regula

Dr. Christie Regula is double board-certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology. She obtained her undergraduate education at Duke University and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Penn State University School of Medicine, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Regula was Chief Resident during her dermatology residency at Penn State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Cooper University Health Center under the tutelage of Dr. Naomi Lawrence. During her training, she was awarded the prestigious Theodore Tromovitch Award by the American College of Mohs Surgery, given annually to one fellow for their outstanding research.

Dr. Regula takes pride in her continued involvement and contributions to local and national medical societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology. She is also co-founder of Sun Smart Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sun safety and skin cancer prevention through the installation of public sunscreen dispensers.

Dr. Regula has been in practice for over 10 years in Mt. Lebanon, performed more than 10,000 Mohs surgeries, and is consistently named one of the “Top Docs” in Pittsburgh. She and her husband, Alex, recently moved to Fox Chapel and she looks forward to serving her local community.

Dr. Regula is co-founder of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Sun Smart Pittsburgh with the mission to promote sun safety and skin cancer prevention by providing complimentary public sunscreen dispensers.

Since 2016 over 30 sunscreen dispensers have been installed in local parks, sports fields, playgrounds, and running trails.

Why Public Sunscreen Dispensers?

  • Sun exposure is the most preventable risk factor for skin cancer.
  • Ultraviolet radiation from the sun and artificial sources have been identified as a known carcinogen by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Sunscreen use is a vital component of sun protection. It prevents damaging sunburns and daily use has been shown to cut one’s risk of melanoma in half.
